Waxhaw Yoga Studio Instructors

Kris Knox, Founder

Kris found yoga in 2007 after moving to Waxhaw from Delaware with her husband and two small children. While searching for ways to keep her and her kids active, Kris took her first yoga class ever at the local Tae Kwon Do studio where her son was enrolled.
It only took one class for Kris to know that this practice was what she had been searching for. Making time for her practice, Kris noticed it helped her be a better more patient wife and mother. After three years of consistent practice , in 2010 Kris took her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certification through Charlotte Yoga under the teachings of Rolf Gates.
After teaching at many different locations around Waxhaw for 10 years all the stars aligned for Kris to open the doors of Waxhaw Yoga during the pandemic, in October 2020. Kris saw a need in Waxhaw for a place that people of all ages, shapes and abilities could come to experience the life changing benefits of this practice in a nonjudgmental, inclusive space.

Julie Eichler, Pilates Instructor

Julie Eichler, Pilates Instructor

It all began with a college extracurricular weight training class.  Yes, the kind you take because you just need to fill credit requirements.  Twenty-four years later, fitness remains a love and a life-long commitment for me.

Years after a B.S. in Biology and a ten year career with the American Cancer Society, the dream of Temple Fitness, LLC became a reality in Waxhaw, NC.  Now, I get to live out my passion everyday as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer.  I am also certified in functional fitness and CPR.  As owner of Temple Fitness, I have the privilege of offering personal training, group resistance training, Pilates and senior fitness to clients of all ages and fitness levels.

When I am not in a gym, you will find me homeschooling Riley (13) and Dylan (9) or enjoying my other favorite things- hiking, cooking or gardening.  I have been married to my best friend and biggest support, Kurt, for 15 years.  We attend and serve at Five Stones Church in Waxhaw.

It is never too late and you will never regret the time you commit to your own fitness routine.  After all, your body is a temple.  Let me help you to view and treat yours as one.

Sherri, Yoga Instructor

Becky Somsak, Instructor

My love of fitness started in high school, but really translated into a career when my youngest son was a baby, 12 years ago in Orange County, CA.  I became a group fitness instructor for Fit4Mom, which led to

personal training and other studio group fitness.

After moving to Waxhaw in 2015, I fell back in love with the practice of yoga, while also becoming a trainer with Burn Boot Camp.  With the intensity of that style of training, I realized even more how crucial yoga was for the Body, Mind, and Spirit and that more people needed to be introduced to it.  I took the 200 hour YTT in 2019 and have never been more excited about sharing my love of fitness, health, body positivity, and yoga!

Sherri Norford, Instructor

Sherri initially came to yoga believing it was just another form of exercise. It didn’t take long for her to realize that, although her body definitely benefitted from the practice, the emotional and spiritual benefits far outweighed the physical.

Her desire to deepen her practice and share her love of yoga with others led her to receive her RYT-200 in 2014 and her RYT-500 in 2018.

Sherri’s initial training was influenced by the Universal style of yoga but she has also had the privilege of studying multiple other styles, including Restorative, Yin, Ashtanga, Gentle, Yoga for Athletes and Yoga
for Beginners.

Sherri lives with her husband, three children and two dogs. When she is not on her mat, Sherri enjoys cooking, reading and time at the lake with her family.
