Waxhaw Yoga Studio Instructors

Kris Knox, Founder
Kris began her yoga practice in 2007. After completing her 200hr Yoga certification in 2010 thru Charlotte Yoga, Kris was offered the opportunity to teach at Snap Fitness in Waxhaw. The timing was perfect and Kris loved the idea of bringing yoga out to Waxhaw where at the time there were not many yoga opportunities around town and there were no yoga studios.
From October 2010 to March 2020 Kris taught all over Waxhaw in neighborhoods, fitness centers, tennis clubs, private sessions, girls night out yoga parties, anywhere and everywhere that she could share this practice, Kris was there.
In June 2020 when the world was shut down, all the stars aligned for Kris to open a brick and mortar yoga studio in Waxhaw. She began offering pop up classes in local parks and neighborhoods and spreading the word about the pending opening of Waxhaw Yoga.
On October 7th 2020, when the world was beginning to reemerge, Kris opened the doors to Waxhaw Yoga. Her mission is and has always been to bring yoga to people that would never have step foot in a yoga studio and to make them feel welcome enough to keep coming back.

Becky Somsak, Instructor
My love of fitness started in high school, but really translated into a career when my youngest son was a baby, 12 years ago in Orange County, CA. I became a group fitness instructor for Fit4Mom, which led to personal training and other studio group fitness.
After moving to Waxhaw in 2015, I fell back in love with the practice of yoga, while also becoming a trainer with Burn Boot Camp. With the intensity of that style of training, I realized even more how crucial yoga was for the Body, Mind, and Spirit and that more people needed to be introduced to it. I took the 200 hour YTT in 2019 and have never been more excited about sharing my love of fitness, health, body positivity, and yoga!

MHH serves children with Autism and related special needs by hosting social and recreational activities for families. Adrienne is also mom to her daughter, Nina.

Sherri Norford, Instructor
Sherri initially came to yoga believing it was just another form of exercise. It didn’t take long for her to realize that, although her body definitely benefitted from the practice, the emotional and spiritual benefits far outweighed the physical.
Her desire to deepen her practice and share her love of yoga with others led her to receive her RYT-200 in 2014 and her RYT-500 in 2018.
Sherri’s initial training was influenced by the Universal style of yoga but she has also had the privilege of studying multiple other styles, including Restorative, Yin, Ashtanga, Gentle, Yoga for Athletes and Yoga
for Beginners.
Sherri lives with her husband, three children and two dogs. When she is not on her mat, Sherri enjoys cooking, reading and time at the lake with her family.
